In addition to an ACGME-accredited Orthopaedic Residency, the department offers three accredited fellowships in Hershey, PA at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center: the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Fellowship, the Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship and the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship (offered in conjunction with the Department of Family and Community Medicine).
In State College, PA the department offers two additional accredited fellowships: an operative Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship and another Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship (also in partnership with Family and Community Medicine).
Abundant educational opportunities for both home and rotating medical students exist. Penn State College of Medicine students may be involved in our department during pre-clinical years by shadowing, performing research, mentorship assignments with orthopaedic faculty and by participating in events held in conjunction with the Orthopaedic Student Interest Group involving our faculty and residents. Both 3rd and 4th year elective rotations are available. For rotating medical students, we offer sub-internship rotations during the 4th year.
At the faculty level, annual continuing education programs provide opportunities for all providers in each subspecialty area to refine their skills.
