Community Service in the Department of Medicine
The Department of Medicine believes that medical care extends beyond the walls of hospitals and clinics. By contributing to service organizations, professional societies, community events and charitable care services, departmental faculty, staff and students bring the best characteristics of medicine - altruistic service - to the people who need it the most.
The department contributes to the advancement of medical practice, nationally and internationally, and meets the needs of those in the central Pennsylvania community through programs such as LionCare, a free clinic run by College of Medicine students that provides free health services to underserved populations in Harrisburg.
