Biography
Karl T. Clebak, MD, MHA, FAAFP, serves as the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He is also a Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Penn State University College of Medicine.
Dr. Clebak earned his undergraduate degree in pre-medicine from Penn State, minoring in Biology and Human Development and Family Studies, before obtaining his medical degree from the Penn State College of Medicine. He completed his residency training and served as chief resident at the University of Virginia Family Medicine Residency Program in Charlottesville, VA. In addition, Dr. Clebak holds a Master's in Health Administration from Penn State
Clinically, Dr. Clebak practices comprehensive family medicine, caring for patients of all ages. His clinical interests include inpatient medicine, outpatient primary care, procedural care, evidence-based medicine, and quality improvement in patient care.
In his previous role as the Family and Community Medicine Residency Program Director, Dr. Clebak actively mentored residents and junior faculty, fostering their professional development and growth. He is deeply passionate about advancing medical education and faculty development, with a focus on supporting learners and building strong educational programs
Dr. Clebak’s research focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into graduate medical education, residency assessment, and quality improvement initiatives. His scholarly contributions are widely published, and he remains actively involved in national professional organizations, including the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the American Board of Family Medicine, and the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors.
As a dedicated educator, Dr. Clebak is inspired daily by working alongside residents and values the collaborative learning environment at Penn State Health. He is particularly excited about fostering innovative educational practices and supporting the next generation of healthcare leaders.
Outside of his professional activities, Dr. Clebak enjoys spending quality time with his family, traveling, gardening, cooking, and exploring the culinary delights of Hershey and the surrounding region.
